Rachel Placemat – Walnut

Naturally dyed using Osage heart wood or Walnut hulls collected from Berea College’s Forest, the classic Rachel placemat has been updated to reflect Berea’s commitment to sustainability. This limited production run was a truly collaborative effort between the Forestry department, which collects the Osage; Woodcraft, which processes the logs; Weaving, which produces the cloth; and Broomcraft ,which dyes the finished product. The Student Craft program has re-introduced the natural dye process to celebrate our history while exploring ways to cultivate some of our raw material closer to home.
